Reach vs Impressions⁣

𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦?

I get a lot of questions from clients about 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇 and 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 – and which one they should focus on in their Instagram Stats. ⁣

If you’ve ever been confused by these two terms, i’m here to simplify it for you!⁣

➡ 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 = Is the total number of people who see your content. 𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘶𝘱 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘐 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘴 𝟷 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵/𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘥.⁣

➡ 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 = The total number of times your post has been seen by users on IG. ⁣

𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦:⁣

‣ Your post shows up in my feed = 1 Reach and 1 Impression.⁣

‣ Later, I click on that same post from your IG Stories = still 1 Reach and 2 Impressions⁣

‣ I go to your profile and scroll back to that same post to SAVE it = still only 1 Reach and 3 Impressions⁣

𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦’𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦. ⁣

One of my client’s post has a 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝟏,𝟒𝟕𝟔 and 𝟏,𝟓𝟗𝟕 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. That means 𝟏,𝟒𝟕𝟔 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐬 on IG seen that post in total. But, 𝟏𝟐𝟏 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐬 seen that post more than once to create 𝟏,𝟓𝟗𝟕 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬.⁣

That’s great news!

So essentially…⁣

➡ 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 = how many unique accounts view your content in TOTAL.⁣

➡ 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 = how many times users are going back to view your content.⁣

Which one is better to focus on?

In my opinion, reach! Because it gives you a better idea as to how many unique accounts your post is actually reaching.

Now you can navigate social media stats like a BOSS!⁣
